Home Care Support

Most people find there are times when they need help from someone. Illness, disability or frailty are just a few examples of the circumstances which can make it difficult for a person to cope with daily life.

Often families, friends and neighbours are able to help, but sometimes extra care is needed, and that is where Social Care and Health can help. Our home care service aims to support people in their own homes. We provide services seven days a week, 52 weeks a year, between 6am and 11pm.

Aims of the Home Care Service

The Home Care services aims to:
  • Provide high quality and practical assistance to enable people to carry on living in their own homes for as long as possible.
  • Provide services which meet individually assessed needs.
  • Enhance self-help and independence.
  • Support carers, allowing them time for themselves.

How much will it cost?

There is a scale of charges for home care services, with a maximum and minimum charge. A financial assessment will be carried out to work out how much you will have to pay.
The level of service by Social Care and Health is related to your own and your carers' assessed needs. An assessment of these needs will normally have been carried out by someone from your local Social Care and Health office.

Social Care and Health or a private organisation can provide these services. Please contact Social Care and Health for more information.
