Registers for those areas formerly in County Durham but now part of the areas administered by Gateshead Metropolitan Borough (for example, Winlaton, Ryton, Felling), South Tyneside Council (for example, South Shields, Jarrow, Hebburn) and Sunderland City Council (for example, Sunderland, Silksworth, Whitburn) may also be found at Tyne and Wear Archive Service.
Registers for those areas formerly in County Durham but now part of the areas administered by Hartlepool Borough Council (for example, Hartlepool, Seaton Carew) and Stockton Borough Council (for example, Stockton, Norton) may also be found at:
Teesside ArchivesBaptist churches do not have to deposit their registers with Record Offices and there are many gaps in our collections. Some registers do not survive while others are still in the care of local ministers.
All registers held in the Record Office are on microfilm and to see them you must reserve a microfilm reader. The original registers will not be made available to the general public.
For each church listed below there is a page of information on its location (including a map) and the availability of registers and indexes.
