Exchanges with France and GermanyGERMAN EXCHANGE 2005An exchange is one of the best ways to get to know a different country. You'll have the chance to experience everyday life and to practice your German for ten days. To take part in the exchange you need to be 15 or over and be able to offer a separate bed to your German partner when he/she comes to Durham. The dates for the visit are:29 March - 9 April 2005 in County Durham 17-28 July 2005 in Germany The cost of the visit is �150. When you are in Germany there'll always be someone on hand if you need help or want to chat to someone. There is no need to worry about staying with a family or having someone to stay with you. All the young people taking part are of your age with a common interest - to see what life is like in a different country and to have fun. You can have your say in organising the programme; previous activities have included rock climbing in the lake district, visits to Stuttgart, bowling, a trip to see the Rocky Horror Show and producing a young persons guide to activities in Germany and the UK. FRENCH EXCHANGE 2005Would you be interested in taking part in an exchange with young people from Northern France? You will have the opportunity to live with a family, make new friends, experience every life and have the opportunity to practise your French all day. To take part in the exchange you need to be over 15 years and able to offer a separate bed for your French partner when he/she comes to County Durham. The dates for the exchange are: 2-13 July 2005 in County Durham 13-22 July 2005 in France It may be that the group travels to London on 13 July for an overnight stay before travelling on to France on 14 July. If this is the case participants will be informed at the planning meeting. The cost of the exchange is �125.00 which includes travel (by coach and ferry), insurance and excursions both in the UK and France.
What is an Exchange?An exchange visit is one of the best ways to really get to know a different country. You live with a family, make new friends, experience everyday life and have the opportunity to learn about a culture and people you may not be familiar with. To take part in the exchange you need to be at least 14 and be able to offer a separate bed to your exchange partner when he/she comes to County Durham.Living with a familyLiving with a different family is a great way to get to know what life is really like in a different country.. You can try new foods, see how people spend their spare time and make lots of new friends - some of the young people who take part in exchange will be doing the exchange with the same person for the third or fourth time! You can have your say in the excursions and activities organised in both countries for all the group members - Budapest, Paris, Stuttgart, Wet'n'Wild, bowling, Granada Studios are some of the previous years' destinations. The group members meet before the exchange takes place to discuss all aspects of the visit and to become involved in the planning.You need not be worried about staying with a family or having someone to stay with you. All the participants in this exchange are young people of your age with a common interest - to see what life is like in a different country and to have fun. Participants should be able to offer a separate bed to their guest and a separate room if you accept someone of the opposite sex.
