Weather Problems and Road Closures

Tuesday 27th January 2004 - 09.00 am

Currently there are no treated roads closed or passable with care in County Durham. However, motorists should beware of ice and frost on the minor untreated roads within the County

Severe Weather Warning - 27th January 2004

The snow forecast for the night of 26th January 2004 has not materialised in any great quantities, however, snow is still forecast for the second half of Tuesday and on into the evening for most parts of the County.

Road temperatures will fall below freezing on the colder Pennine roads by 12.00 noon today and on most roads by 6.00pm this evening giving widespread icy patches particularly on untreated roads

Further snow is forecast on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
