Aims of the Service AimsTo offer support and information for parents of children with special educational needs.
To support parents of children with special educational needs to enable them to play a more active role in their child's education.
ObjectivesTo provide appropriate information to parents by:- Developing and disseminating information about the parent partnership service.
- Providing up-to-date information about support groups and voluntary organisations to parents.
- Providing information for parents about SEN procedures, locally and nationally.
To provide support for parents through volunteers by: - Recruiting and training a 'pool' of volunteer 'independent parental supporters' to support parents at any stage of the code of practice.
- Ensuring that these volunteers are appropriately supported and developed in order to carry out their role effectively.
To work in collaboration with other individuals and groups to strengthen partnership with parents by:- Developing positive working relationships with colleagues within the LEA, schools and the voluntary sector.
- Developing or contributing to training in the area of special educational needs.
Contributing to a culture of active partnership through involvement in the development of policies and practices that enhance partnership working. |
