The village of Blackhall is on the East Durham coast, a few miles north of the town of Hartlepool and south of Peterlee. Residents from Blackhall Rocks, Crimdon and the Hesledens also use the library.
Lending Services
We offer a book lending and reservation service, a selection of large print books and children's books and stories on tape. You can also order music scores and language courses from the library. The library also operates a loan service to some local residential homes.
Information and Advice Services
We have reference books and maps, information leaflets and study facilities. You can make reference enquiries in person or by telephone. We provide access to newspapers, community information, local & central government information and some business information. We offer free internet access and e-mail on our public access computers.
Arts and Entertainment
Exhibition and display space is available in the library. We also display a selection of leaflets, posters and information about local and regional activities and events.
Museums and Heritage
The library holds some local studies material including a selection of books, photographs and newspaper cuttings. We also have leaflets and information about museums and areas of local interest.
Tourism
We display posters and leaflets publicising events and places of interest. We can also help with local transport information.
Sales
The library stocks County Council publications and other items including posters, children's workbooks and greetings cards. You can also buy books currently in print through our 'Buy-a-Book' service.
Events and Facilities
We have display and noticeboard space available to publicise local events and a self-service photocopier for public use. We can also supply information about a number of local groups and organisations.
There is a Library Break coffee morning on Fridays and competitions and activities for children take place at various times throughout the year.
Open Learning
You can enrol at the library for a range of Open Learning courses including IT skills. These courses allow you to study at your own pace, at home or in the library, for a qualification or just for pleasure. Further details are available from the library.
