Adult Education

Education doesn't stop when you leave school. As we get older, as technology speeds up, as the world of work changes, we all benefit from refreshing ourselves with some education whether we are 18 or 80. Whether it's to equip ourselves for a job, just to stretch ourselves in mind and body, or even to meet some new interesting friends, there are programmes to meet all interests.

In Durham we're experts in teaching adults. So forget your school days. It doesn't matter what O levels or GCSEs you have or don't have. You'll enjoy learning in a friendly environment (yes, our centres are nice and warm even on a November evening!).

With us you'll get lively teaching to open up exciting horizons.

People return to learning for a variety of reasons. It can

  • Improve your confidence and self-esteem.
  • Improve your job prospects.
  • Improve your reading, writing, computer and number skills.
  • Help you to help your children with their homework.
You can choose how you want to work from:
  • Taught sessions with learning on a one to one basis or in a group situation.
  • Open learning which offers you the chance to drop into a group and improve your basic skills as and when you are able.
  • Independent Learning for students who prefer to work independently with only minimal support from a tutor as and when required.
  • Dyslexia: If you think you may be dyslexic call and see us. We offer assessment and support. You can work on a one to one basis with a specialist tutor who will work out an individual programme to meet your needs.

Computers Don't Bite!

Whether you want to become familiar with word processing, spreadsheets, database or get to grips with Internet, we can help you log on and take off!
