I really enjoyed my recent revisit to your museum. All your staff are friendly and helpful. I took some photos and would like to share them with you and your visitors. Only sorry I didn't catch our guides name who took us into the mine. If you advise me of it I'll update my script. The link for my visit to your museum is:-

Hope you attract many visitors this year

I came to killhope with school this week. It was very good and iteresting. I had a bad back after going down the mine though, especially after the steel framed section. We are now reviewing the visit and doing display work in class.

To Killope

It was really good when we came to see you. I think that the mine was the best, but comming out of the tunnel a boy from my class (Mathew Nicholson) splashed the back of my legs.

Nice, however the site seems to ignore the dameage caused by mines with relation to mine water pollution of local rivers and streams

Name Withheld, 10/10/2002 13:34:57

Web Administrator: Thanks for the message, Andy. You raise an interesting point. Certainly minewater pollution is an important topic, and a number of mines in the North Pennines (particularly around Nenthead) are still polluting streams with heavy metals. The minewater at Killhope has been tested, and is within EU limits for metals. What do other people think? Would you like to see information about minewater pollution on display at Killhope?

Well done Killhope Lead Mining Centre - I rode up to you on my motorbike with my gal on the back and we had a wonderful day and a splendid picnic. You are a credit to the County. Its a real shame that the Queen couldn't honour you with visit on the occassion of her glorious jubilee celebrations
